KLOTH is turning five!
Some of the current crew
Celebrations are in order – we've been helping people achieve their aims and ambitions by borrowing rather than buying for five years!
Founded in 2020 by four Penryn and Falmouth residents, our aim was to enable people to access a wide range of items at a fraction of the cost of buying them whilst also saving on storage space at home. Friday, 12th September will mark exactly five years since KLOTH officially opened its doors to the public.

“The last five years have been the result of a lot of hard work by a lot of people who have been part of the journey along the way and I would like to thank them all.”
“We are very proud to have reached this important milestone of five years serving the people of our community, saving them money and enabling them to do thing that they might not otherwise be able to whilst also helping to reduce the amount of stuff bought, stuff going dusty in the back of cupboards and garages or going to landfill due to not being used.”

Since opening, KLOTH has made nearly 2500 loans to the local community, ranging from camping equipment and power tools to folding tables, games and party ware.
When surveyed, 90% of the library’s borrowers who responded reported having more money to spend on important things due to the savings from borrowing. 75% said they felt better connected to their community and 60% more likely to repair or recycle items after using the library.
We look forward to many more years and to being able to help many more people in our local community and across Cornwall!
